Prešov Region extends across north-eastern Slovakia from the High Tatras to the eastern Carpathians. It contains the country’s highest mountain landscapes as well as an exceptional concentration of medieval towns, wooden churches and historic religious traditions.
Levoča, Bardejov, Kežmarok and Prešov preserve different forms of urban heritage linked to Spiš and Šariš. The region also includes spa traditions, the Pieniny and Dunajec gorge, mountain villages and the remote forests of Poloniny.
The variety is substantial, and a complete visit cannot be reduced to the Tatras alone. Travellers should balance mountain time with historic towns and at least one route into the region’s eastern or northern cultural landscapes.
