A car makes this route considerably easier, since Orava Castle, Liptovský Hrádok and Vlkolínec sit in different valleys within the Žilina region. Liptovský Hrádok Castle is guided-tour only, so time your arrival to a scheduled tour slot rather than dropping in, and check Vlkolínec's steep access road for any seasonal vehicle restrictions.
