Destination overview

A century of bathing history built on an unplanned thermal discovery

Dunajská Streda's connection to water recreation predates its thermal springs by decades: a simple lido with two pools opened here in 1930, offering little more than a diving board and a water slide to summer visitors. It was only in 1971, while drilling for other purposes, that the town struck genuinely valuable thermal water more than two kilometres down.

That discovery transformed a modest local pool into what is now one of the larger water parks in southwestern Slovakia, while the town around it has kept its unhurried, provincial character — the water park is the clear reason to visit, rather than one attraction among many.
